Our Story
Dryden Associates was started by Matt Dryden in 2011 and has grown from word of mouth referrals ever since. Specialising in small to medium size businesses it is now a team of six members dedicated to client service and delivering value to our clients from Tasmania to Cairns and overseas. In 2015 David Butler became a partner at Dryden Associates binging a wealth of experience with him.

Matt Dryden
Matt Dryden is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years experience and is the Principal at Dryden Associates. He started out at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Brisbane cutting his teeth on listed groups such as Fosters, Boral, Billabong and Alcan providing tax advice.
Matt has extensive experience in the commercial world working for APN News and Media and Shell UK as well as operating a large manufacturing business employing over 50 staff. This experience gives Matt the leading-edge setting him apart from most small practice accountants. Matt is fully aware of what it’s like sitting in his client’s chair identifying value where others might not.
Before commencing Dryden Associates Matt worked with a local firm Accounting North where he enjoyed the team environment and getting to know the local business community. Matt has a young family and is a keen fisherman and can often be seen at local corporate golf days.
David Butler
David is a Chartered Accountant with over 12 years experience and is a Partner within Dryden Associates. David’s accounting background started in a large firm in Brisbane, becoming an accountant in his late twenties. Prior to that, David was a sales manager in the sporting industry. David is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Golden Key International Honour Society.
David has a broad range of technical tax experience across small and medium to large entities including individuals, partnerships, companies, trusts and deceased estates. Industry specific experience includes primary producers, taxation on foreign residents and the medical industry.
David enjoys building close relationships with his clients and contributing to their success and financial goals. He has a young family and a passion for golf, good food and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Alison van Herberghen
Alison is a qualified CPA Accountant with over 5 years experience in Public Practice, she has been working in the accounting industry for over 14 years starting off in commercial accounting. Alison enjoys working with small business owners to assist them with their compliance requirements and also day to day running of their business. She has a thorough technical knowledge across a wide range of Accounting software platforms and is a Xero certified Advisor.
In her spare time, Alison enjoys relaxing with her family and the occasional bushwalking adventure.
Sharon Dryden
Sharon is the Client Services Co-ordinator at Dryden Associates. She has extensive experience in Accounting firms serving the Managing Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers as Executive Assistant for many years. She also has many years of experience in consultancy practices across various industries such as property and also business consulting.
Sharon runs the administration side of Dryden Associates. She has an affinity with dogs and loves socialising with her family and friends.
